Dr. Venkat Shastri, President and CEO

Dr. Shastri is a world recognized leader in the fields of intelligent automation, control and robotics. He comes to PCN Technology, Inc. from Palomar Technologies where he oversaw the designing, building, integration and support of high-precision technologies needed to assemble complex packages with the highest accuracy and reliability. Dr. Shastri has held positions as Senior Director of Engineering and Product Development at KLA-Tencor; one of the world’s leading suppliers of process control and yield management solutions for the semiconductor and related microelectronics industries. He spent five years with SRI International, the leading research institute as director of robotics and intelligent automation and senior research scientist. Respected for his research in artificial muscles and bio-automation, his scientific and academic background includes Engineer for the Mars Pathfinder project, research scientist at Yale University, member of the technical staff at the Caltech Jet Propulsion laboratory, and research consultant professor at Stanford University. He received both his B.S. and M.S. degrees in mechanical engineering and has a Ph.D in electrical engineering from the University of Massachusetts, Amherst.

Daniel A Drolet, Senior VP and Director of Business Development

Also a co-founder of PCN, Daniel is a well known and recognized leader and expert in the field of intellectual property asset management focused in communications, networking and information technology. Daniel has also gained a national reputation in IP management and business development, and has authored several articles in various general business and professional publications related to technology management including Fortune, and Fast Company. He is quoted in books concerning intellectual property. and is listed in “Who’s Who among IP Technology Professionals and Executives” As Chairman of the Universal Powerline Association, a leading Powerline Communication organization focused on International Standards and Applications, he is often sourced for his views towards issues facing this industry. Daniel also serves as the formal representative for the DRSG - Demand Response Smart Grid Coalition and is an active member of the Modbus Organization, an important protocol communications and networking organization. Daniel’s ability to quickly assess how a current technology is deployed by a prospective customer and identify the operational superiorities PCN technology delivers has led to multiple corporate engagements.

David M. Strumpf, CTO

David Strumpf, also a co-founder, is PCN’s Chief Technology Officer and primary architect of PCN’s Grid MicroCircuits™ portfolio and products. He is a recognized leader in the fields of industrial technologies focused on control, automation and overall communication, networking and energy management. David has been the Lead Developer on multiple technologies within Industrial Engineering, Sensor Technology, Industrial Software, Hardware and Firmware. He is the primary Developer of sensor claims in Bio-Chemistry Processing Systems. David has been the Lead Engineer and Development Manager of Industrial Energy Management Software for Energy and Power Management Systems. Previous positions include R&D Manager with ABC Laboratories and Director of Engineering for a medical automation research institution. David has also had significant experience in project management and in the development, design and implementation launch of industrial and mission critical components into multiple markets. Because of David’s prolific creativity, PCN has broadened its offerings of multiple products and applications in several global markets.

Bill Umphreyville, Controller

Bill Umphreyville is a graduate from San Diego State University where he earned his Bachelor of Science in Business Administration with an emphasis in Accounting. He has worked for Fortune 100 company, Motorola Communications and Electronics, for over 10 years as their Accounting Manager before moving to Controller and CFO positions in various small electronic companies. More recently, he served as the Business Unit Controller at Sony Electronics Inc. where he was the project leader for the initial introduction of the Sony laptop computer. He successfully held the position of Plant Controller for a leading manufacturer of diagnostic laboratory systems where he heavily relied on his skills in inventory control, cost-build projections, and financial forecasting. Bill has led many software implementations in the manufacturing environment and is a Six Sigma champion. Bill has been a business leader in the San Diego area for the past 25 years. He currently resides in Carlsbad, CA with his wife and their three daughters.
