Interconnected Convergence for Critical Data & Energy Control Applications

Smart Grid & Alternative Energy

“To finally spark the creation of a clean energy economy, we will double the production of alternative energy in the next three years. We will modernize more than 75 percent of federal buildings and improve the energy efficiency of two million American homes, saving consumers and taxpayers billions on our energy bills”

President Barack Obama

PCN is committed to helping sustain the smart grid and the green economy. The basic concept of a Smart Grid is to add “brains” to the already existing power grid. These “brains” include adding monitoring, analysis, control, and communication capabilities to the nation’s electrical grid to maximize throughput of the system, as well as reduce energy consumption. By adding direct two-way communication between the consumer and the utility companies, we are able to create a grid that is intelligent, efficient, resilient, and “green”.

Unfortunately, the cost of adding new technologies is often a deciding factor for the cash strapped utilities since deregulation. Much of the presently installed grid technologies are proprietary or legacy. PCN has developed a technology that requires only the existence of a conductive medium to communicate even when the grid is down. PCN provides the capability for communication and analysis on existing power infrastructure. No power on the grid is needed. PCN products are protocol agnostic and provides seamless interoperability with protocols, platforms, and architectures.
