Communications and networking company PCN Technology, Inc., announced recently that its 2008 Energy AMI Grid MicroCircuits Products consisting of its advanced Grid MicroCircuits and GridSweep network management software is now available for Electric Utility Automated Metering Infrastructure markets.

Reportedly, the company is closely working with several large companies in the Electric Utility markets for 2009 product roll out.

PCN has been focusing in the design, development and marketing of Grid MicroCircuits which are complete application specific embedded subsystem solutions using energy grids and power systems for data communication, control, networking and simultaneous grid analysis.

As stated, Grid MicroCircuits helps customers to use existing infrastructure, such as electricity lines and other conducted mediums & infrastructure creating the backbone for data and energy networks.

PCN Grid MicroCircuits is stated to allow high speed, high Quality of Service, two-way communication over powerlines. When combined with the GridSweep™ software, the platform enables complete switching, routing & network management of mission critical utility data for AMI Backhaul, Endpoint and Building Area Network applications.

When combined with customer management tools, GridSweep is said to ensure seamless integration and operation.

Based on iPLC powerline communication technology, PCN’s Grid MicroCircuits can consistently communicate high QoS data at 250 Kbps or higher over multiple miles and burst at 20 Mbps through existing infrastructure without any special hardware.

Moreover, the company also clarified that its Grid MicroCircuits can be integrated “under the glass” into meters, can be connected within existing utility infrastructure, field devices, can serve as gateways in an AMI system, or connect in-building / in-home appliances and other smart devices to AMI systems.

PCN was recently honored the Frost and Sullivan Technology Award for Smart Metering and Smart Grids and was also selected as “The Most Outstanding Clean Energy (NewsAlert) Smart Grid Venture” from the Austin Texas Clean Energy Venture Conference.
